The Bergen County Academies (BCA), is a free public magnet high school of choice for Bergen County residents located on the Dr. John Grieco Campus in Hackensack, New Jersey.
The school offers seven specialized programs in the areas of mathematics and science, engineering and design, medical science, business and finance, culinary arts and hospitality administration, visual and performing arts, and technology and computer science.
BCA boasts an outstanding record of student accomplishments, remarkable for their depth and scope. Notable school-wide achievements include admittance to the Coalition of Essential Schools, the first New Jersey school to be so honored, and membership in the National Consortium for Specialized Secondary Schools of Mathematics, Science, and Technology. The school has received the Intel Star Innovator and School of Distinction Awards, a New Jersey State Department of Education Star School accolade, and seven Best Practices Awards. Newsweek magazine recognized the Academies as one of the nation’s best public high schools, ranking it 21st in the country. This year, thirty-three students have been recognized as National Merit® Scholarship and National Merit® Achievement Semifinalists. Two students have been named Intel Science Talent Search 2012 semifinalists and one was named an Intel National Finalist.
