What Special Music Opportunities Exist at BCA?

BCA maintains an active chapter of the Tri-M Music Honor Society. With ever increasing membership standards, the most dedicated music students have the opportunity to join over 20,000 members worldwide.
Many of our classes/concerts feature guest artists. These professionals share their talents and experiences that transcend the walls of our school. Past artists have come from almost every musical background from Grammy nominated musicians, members of the Metropolitan Opera, conductors and music academicians.
Our Guitar & Mandolin Orchestra is of the the more unique orchestras in American music education. Featuring mandolins, mandolas, mandocellos, guitars and bass guitars, the orchestra performs a clinics and festivals throughout the region.
The Concert and Chamber Choirs perform works in all styles, but primarily they study standard concert literature. Both choirs participates in county, regional and all-state events and have received gold ratings in nationally rated competitions by certified college adjudicators.
The Senior Experience internship is an interactive learning partnership through which students increase, in depth and scope, their knowledge and abilities in a selected area of study under the guidance of a mentor. Similar to an internship, students spend an entire day working off campus in a field related to their interest. Students interested in music have been placed in music companies such as Atlantic Records and Sony Music Corp. They have practiced the art of teaching music in middle and elementary schools or assisted at Lincoln Center and Thirteen-WNET.
Our music department participates in auditions for many honors ensembles, including County, Region, All-State, and All-Eastern Concert Band, Chorus, and Orchestra. There are also opportunities for participation in community, educational and professional organizations.
We have a busy music calendar with several performances for BCA students. A recent count showed that each year our music department holds or sponsors at least 15 performances involving BCA students. BCA also presents a full-length Broadway musical with a pit orchetsra comprised of students musicians. Additionally, students have several authentic experiences through our music program performing at jazz clubs, banquets, festivals, universities, arts centers, and more!
