“Bergen County Teen Arts Festival is the largest, most comprehensive arts-in-education festival for teenagers in the state of New Jersey. Through the interaction of artists, students, teachers, and volunteers…the Festival showcases the myriad and extraordinary talents of middle and high school students”
-quoted from the Festival program booklet
The festival was held at Bergen Community College on Friday, May 18, 2012. Our BCTHS Band performed and did a wonderful job.

A poem by Philip Lee, a student from the junior class of 2013, called “Noises in the Night” was selected for inclusion on the Teen Arts website; the poem is shown below. Fellow Junior, Ashley Cruz, made an illustration that has been chosen for the cover of next year’s Teen Arts program booklet. The illustration by her is previewed in the banner above.
Noises in the Night
In these hours when the moon shines bright,
When warnings hiss and secrets lie,
Beware of noises in the night.
The bed sheets rustle like wily sprites.
The floorboards rasp as mice rush by,
In these hours when the moon shines bright.
The ravens cry with all their might,
Then drown the silence as they fly.
Beware of noises in the night.
Woe-some winds whisked the world from white.
Evening gusts bellow as they die,
In these hours when the moon shines bright.
And though the ears are covered tight,
The soul can hear the mourning sky.
Beware of noises in the night.
So before you’re freed by the light,
A grim warning to abide by:
In these hours when the moon shines bright,
Beware of noises in the night.
