American Heart Association

Within the "For Parents" section are tips to help parents help their kids make healthy food choices and exercise more. The section also provides Dietary Guidelines for Healthy Children.

This friendly health and wellness site for kids has a wide range of games, tips, and easy-to-digest information about physical activity, food and nutrition, disease, and safety.

Cooking Light Magazine

This registration-required site contains interesting and relevant nutrition articles, tips for lighter cooking, and thousands of recipes organized by ingredient, course, occasion, cuisine, and level of convenience. You can also find hundreds of kid-friendly recipes.

From the homepage select any college campus to access a health and wellness section with many useful links and a myth/reality FAQ.

Food Allergy Initiative

This site is designed for parents with food allergic children. In addition to useful information about common food allergens, parents can sign up to receive alerts about foods that contain food allergens not listed on labels, and receive guidance about how to work with their kids' school and camp administrators.

Dedicated entirely to the prevention and treatment of eating disorders, this site is replete with information and resources to help parents and friends protect their loved ones. There is also a parent/family network section which provides guidance on how to obtain help and find support networks.

National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute's We Can! Program

We Can! (Ways to Enhance Children's Activity and Nutrition!) is a national program for parents and caregivers interested in practical tools to help children ages 8-13 stay at a healthy weight. Tips and fun activities focus on three critical behaviors: improved food choices, increased physical activity, and reduced screen time.

This site is sponsored by the National Dairy Council and provides separate sections for parents and kids. The area dedicated to parents provides practical information and tools for helping families balance good nutrition and a busy lifestyle. Parents have access to meal-planning tips, ideas for cooking with their kids, recipes, and nutrition info.

Vegetarian Resource Group

On this site, parents of vegetarian kids and teens can learn about the health aspects of vegetarianism, the special dietary needs of vegetarian kids and teens, and how to prepare meals that will allow them to meet their daily nutrition needs. There are also hundreds of easy-to-make vegetarian recipes.
