Instrumental Music Auditions
Students who wish to audition for a BCA instrumental ensemble must first qualify through an audition. Please refer to our Audition Policy for details.
Note: there is no piano/keyboard audition, as this instrument is not typically part of band or orchestra.

For Incoming Students (entering 9th grade after summer):
Sign up for an audition online (see below). Recently accepted students receive a letter with music/audition details at the BCA induction ceremony and PPO Picnic. The auditions take place in June, when students are in in good playing form before summer vacation. Materials for the audition are provided on the below links.

For class of 2021:

-  Thursday, June 8, 2017- audition closed/completed
-  Tuesday, June 13, 2017- audition closed/completed

For Current BCA Students:
Students who are auditioning for the first time on an instrument should make an appointment. This can be done anytime during the school year. Qualified students who wish to re-audition to improve their score may only do so in June. Simply make an appointment at that time.

Audition Procedure:
First, students will perform a scale. The scale must be the scale indicated below for the instrument and performed from memory. Percussionists perform snare drum rudiments instead of scales. Second, students must perform the solo indicated below for their instrument. The solo does not have to be memorized. The audition does not register a student for a music course, but may qualify them to request a seat in a particular course band, orchestra, ensemble. Students may request a seat during the music elective registration period each trimester. This is done online: www.bergen.org/music (sidebar: Music Registration).
